Thank you all for an amazing school year. Mindy and I were blown away by your generous class gifts and touched by your thoughtful words. The admiration is mutual! It was truly a privilege for us to be able to work with such a well-loved, hard working and caring group of kids this year, and the support we received from all of you was SO appreciated. We had a busy last week together. During our last visit with our 2nd grade reading buddies, we taught them about our African animals and learned from them about the whales they had studied. |
We experienced going to our first field day …
… getting our first yearbook and enjoying our final days of kindergarten choice time. Some of us even took a few early swings on the play structure wheel, a QAE recess rite of passage.
We reflected back on our first days of school and wrote advice letters to the incoming kindergartners to help them adjust in the fall.
On Thursday, we had our last K Friendship Club and had our final marble jar celebration, dressing up in pajamas and costumes. At the end of the day, we celebrated all that we had learned together while playing a collaborative string game. During this game, I was again struck with how much the students have learned, and how aware they have become of their classmates needs and what it takes to work collaboratively as they learn.
And so It is with mixed emotions that I say farewell to this amazing group of learners. I am sad that I will no longer get to spend each day with them, but also proud of how far they have come and excited for their continued growth. I am confident that they are very ready for the learning adventures that first grade will bring.
As I watch them move on, I will tuck my joyful memories of our year together away in my heart, so grateful for all that they have taught me.
Thank you again for so fully supporting their kindergarten learning. I look forward to watching their continued growth in the years to come!
With love and gratitude,
Katie
